Mashable have revealed that more people have been killed while taking selfies so far this year than have been killed in shark attacks.
Twelve people have been killed in selfie-related accidents in 2015, whereas there have only been 8 deadly shark attacks.
The most recent selfie death was a Japanese tourist who died whilst taking a selfie at the Taj Mahal. The tech mag pointed out that tourist attractions such as zoos have been forced to take measures to stop people from taking dangerous selfies, while other destinations have banned selfie stick or selfies altogether. Disney parks recently banned selfie sticks, citing “safety concerns”.
The report didn’t mention how many shark selfies had been taken this year.
