Recently we here at Screen Robot shared news on AC Odyssey, the latest game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise and a direct sequel to last year’s AC Origins. In that post we discussed some of the game’s incredible new gameplay elements, from dialogue tree branches to leveling up and never ending enemies that spawn even after the game’s story ends. To check out our thoughts on the game’s new gameplay click here.

Overall AC Odyssey is set to become a game changer for the franchise. Exploring one of history’s greatest and most mythological periods (Ancient Greece), the game will explore a time before the rise of the Assassin Order, possibly exploring the formation of the power behind their ancient foes, The Templar Order. However no matter what direction the story takes players in, the setting of Ancient Greece and the inclusion of both historical and mythological elements makes this one of 2018’s most anticipated games.

Yet as with any Assassin’s Creed release, fans are already asking and clamoring for news on the next entry in the franchise after AC Odyssey. Well the developers at Ubisoft, specifically CEO Yves Guillemot, has confirmed that no new game will be coming out in 2019. Talking at Gamescom 2018, Guillemot confirmed that there will not be a “full fledged AC game” out in 2019. Some fans pondered whether this could mean a spin-off or smaller title in the series could be released, but he clarified that this would not be the case.

Instead fans can expect AC Odyssey to be the company’s main focus as far as the Assassin’s Creed series is concerned. Primarily the company will be developing content for the game that will keep players engaged pretty regularly. For the next two years developers will be developing new content for the game that will bring hours and hours of more content. Whether part of the content will be additional story based DLC or perhaps new weapons, enemies or more has yet to be determined, but the company assures players that they will have plenty of content to go through for the next two years in the game.

What do you guys think? Are you bummed that AC Odyssey is the only game coming out in the franchise for the next two years, or do you think the world of Ancient Greece will provide plenty of gaming for that length of time? Leave your comments down below and let us know.
