Pulling captures very well the existential crisis of a single thirtysomething, struggling to define oneself whilst weighed down by an uninspiring job. Main character Donna (played by Sharon Horgan, who wrote Pulling with Dennis Kelly), decides to break off her engagement with her fiancé. This is because she suddenly becomes plagued with doubts at the prospect of settling down. She chooses to moves in with her two single friends, Tanya and Louise, expecting single life to be hedonistic and liberating. Yet her excitement is misplaced, as she embarks down a wayward path.
